Pretty much the same thing happened again. I found a good spot to play my violin--this time it was the roof--and, not long after I had begun, the hollow sounds of the Second Violin drifted across the grounds. This time, I was sure it was closer. I longed to put down my instrument and search for him, but I was afraid that he would leave before I found him.

But then the playing got closer, and I was sure that this Second Violin was on the roof. I turned, and I caught sight of the silhouette of a figure, standing with their back to me. I must have stopped playing, because he dashed away when the music stopped. Darn it. I thought, not quite swearing. I really want to know who he is.

Then I went to breakfast. Neil wasn't there.

Later, I stopped by the library. There was a dark haired boy typing away on a nearby computer, and I had the distinct impression that he was a computer geek.

"Hey." I said to him. "Do you know Java?" It's a great question to find out how nerdy someone is.

"Yeah." The boy replied. "And Python."

Ha. I thought. I was right. I then asked him if he could hack into the student records (you needed a password from a teacher) so I could check something.

This boy--called Wil--did so. He was pretty good, and I searched the list of students who play the violin. Lakewood had tons of information like that in its data. The list contained about fifty students. That sucked. I was hoping that there wouldn't be too many, that I could figure out who the Second Violin was just by the process of elimination.

The mystery of his identity still remains....

  6. I would think it would be Neil because he has the violin, and that point would have been pointless without his being the second violin.
